THE APPLICATION
Admission to the EES program is only open to current PhD students in
the Department of Economics and the Bren School of Environmental
Science & Management. Thus if you are interested in EES, you must
first gain admission to one of these departments/schools. Once enrolled
as a PhD student, there are generally no difficulties in following the
EES program.
Prospective students may apply for admission to either the Economics
Department or the Bren School using the same Graduate Division's Online
Application.
Students may wish to indicate in the "Statement of Purpose" why they
are interested in the EES program and why their preparation and
experience is appropriate for the program. For students with limited
economics experience, it is also important to convey an appreciation
for the discipline of economics--what it means to be a research
economist.
Admission into either PhD progam is highly competitive.

DEADLINES
The PhD program begins in the fall quarter. The deadline for application is typically in December prior to the beginning of the fall quarter. Contact your department for exact dates. It is highly recommended that you apply early since your file will not be reviewed until all supporting materials have been received.
